This is an exciting year at St Peter’s as we journey from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’.
In planning for our new curriculum the teachers have devised a new homework approach across the school. The new approach embraces our modern skills curriculum and celebrates learning done out of school. It encourages independent learning, the development of thinking skills; it gives opportunities to develop creative skills, address personalised targets, takes account of different learning style preferences, gives opportunity for extension activities and allows pupils to present work in alternative ways.
Your child will have a large blue homework book of their own. As in previous years. homework will be set each week.
Your child/children’s teacher will set a weekly Maths homework, focusing on times tables and weekly spellings homework. In addition to this your child will be set Topic or creative homework. This homework may be set for a week, two weeks or even a whole half term. The homework could be a piece of Art, looking at a website, going on a journey, writing a diary or anything related to their class learning.
We offer a homework club each week which will enable your child to use our resources and benefit from help where needed.
